A Women’s Support Mission in Bradenton, Florida

One of PepsiCo’s core values is “Growing the Number of Women Leaders.” That’s why it made perfect sense when their team in Bradenton, Florida asked Outback to customize their School Supply Scramble team building activity to focus on empowering women. Instead of solving challenges to get school supplies to put together kids backpacks, the Women’s Support Mission had the employees tackle female-focused challenges and assemble special care packages for the local Women’s Resource Center.

The philanthropic activity aligned perfectly with the theme of the conference that the PepsiCo employees attended that day: empowering women in operations and networking. The colleagues themselves consisted of women who work in different facilities of the soft drink company throughout the Southeast region, but don’t have a lot of regular interactions with each other. So, they wanted to foster connections in a meaningful way that would also relate to the purpose of their day.

The Women’s Support Mission was a big success. After the group split into six teams, they worked together on challenges to earn points for the care package items. Each team packed two donation bags that included items like body wash, lip balm, lotion, and fuzzy socks, as well as crayons and activity books for children.

Not only did the coworkers have a great time getting to know each other better, but the representative from the Women’s Resource Center said that the care packages will greatly support their Project Uplift initiative, which benefits mothers and children — perfect timing for the holiday season.
